Taylor guitars photo contest
I heard that the Taylor guitars company was having a photo contest. It is supposed to depict the feeling you get when you play one of their guitars. I've always like Taylor and this sounds like a fun idea. S I thought about it and asked my friend Shane if he would mind posing for it. He readily agreed. I then looked for a cool location. I wanted to have him sit against one of the piers at the beach. So I scouted all of them looking for the best textures, graphic stance, accessibility, likelihood of having the cops show up (since you are supped to get a permit to shoot anything more than a snapshot of grandma on LA beaches). Santa Monica has the best looking pier because it is one of the few wooden ones left. Unfortunately though, they wrapped some ugly black tarp around most of the pylons to protect them from aggressive waves. So I ended up choosing Venice. We shot it last night. Quite the adventure really. My original idea was to have Shane sit othe sand against a pylon and have the rising tide slowly wrap around him to show that being so lost in your music makes you oblivious to what is happening around you. Well, we found out, it is not easy controlling waves to do exactly what you want... Especially when you are also trying to catch the perfect light which is changing every minute.
